@ARABIAFATS @HamOfTreachery Sean was already a great "young MMA fighter" character who would have been a natural fit as a new main character of the series. His moves are remixes of classic shoto moves + MMA. He has a special that's a takedown into ground and pound. They did this 20+ years ago!
@Battatar1 Diamond Comics distributed a line of Xebec/Kaiyodo Evangelion figures in 2001. I remember seeing them wherever Pokemon cards were sold. I remember being quite pleasantly surprised at how many places they popped up!
@MQuitney I feel like there was a brief moment in time, around 2001 where you actually COULD find the Xebec/Kaiyodo Evangelion toys all over the place in the US. I remember being shocked at how easy they were to get!
I think Robin Williams knew EXACTLY what the MP Eva was and probably enjoyed the added layer of symbolism & irony that his character, Sy thinks the figure is a good guy, but Robin Williams the man and actor knew it's very much the badguy (even if the director didn't know either!)
It made so much sense too! It didn't feel forced. It wasn't a cynical cash grab. It was two of the most innovative, exciting, super high craft, art and hardcore gameplay driven game companies of the time (and ever!) coming together in perfect harmony!
@MaxKriegerVG I just did a re-org of our folder structures on our game after discussing how to optimize them with the people that will actually be updating them. I feel like I can breath easier now! 😭
Now if we could get some more modern CRT filters that would be AWESOME! Emulators have made incredible strides in this area over the years. They can take something as awkward as Capcom's old arcade boards (which ran at VERY WEIRD resolutions!) and make em look great at 1920×1080!
@jchensor One thing that the online experience can never replicate is how people are generally a lot nicer in person. There are real consequences to taking smack talk too far in person. It wasn't a constant slugfest, but I do fondly recall physical fights breaking out at arcades haha.
Hey kids! Ravenous is HUGELY underrated. Way ahead of its time. Amazing cast. Gorey as hell. Super gay. Directed by a woman (Atonia Bird). Bizarre soundtrack by Damon Albarn who drew upon actual folk music of the period (which was not as melodic as modern ears are used to!)
